Many University of Maryland students hope for snow day, unworried about missed work

The National Weather Service is predicting snowfall accumulations that could reach upwards of 8 inches beginning overnight on Thursday, February 13th.

Naturally, whenever there is the possibility of a snowstorm, many Maryland students immediately begin hoping for a day off of school.

However, a day lost from school always creates the issue of how to make up any missed work.

One might expect students to be intimidated by the prospect of having to make up a day of missed work. But, after interviewing a few students, I found the overwhelming general sentiment that the excitement of a possible snow day far outweighed any fear of having to make up any missed work.

In fact, the general opinion of many student seems to be that their teachers are generally very lenient about making up any work missed during a snow day, even before there is any confirmation of cancellation.

With such a large snowstorm potentially hitting College Park, there is even the possibility of having a second day, Friday, off as well.

But for now, luckily for all those hoping, the prayers of many have been answered early.
